  • I iz 1337!

Today, I accomplished an amazing thing. I finished the Call of Duty 4 campaign on Veteran. After months of being stuck on No Fighting In the War Room (love that Dr. Strangelove reference!), I got some help from the guys on the xbox.com forums and watched a few videos on nextgenwalkthroughs.com. It took me two nights of sheer determination to get through the crates and then the tunnels in NFITWR, but less than 30 minutes after blasting through to the control room, I was watching the credits again. Woot! Deep and Hard is probably the hardest 360 achievement I have unlocked to date. Pizza Party with the Knice People tonight!

I am taking a break before even attempting Mile High Club…

  • Call of Duty 4: Double XP weekend

    cod4.png

This weekend is double XP in COD4 Multiplayer on Xbox Live, starting about 2 hours ago and running through Sunday. At the same time, the Variety Map Pack is discounted 50% to just 400 MS points.  For $5, you can play in two of my favorite maps, Chinatown and Broadcast, and get your head sniped off 5000 times in Creek (if your skill level is similar to mine). Killhouse is the 4th map, and it’s awesome for 1v1. See you in Headquarters, where I’ll be spending my weekend.

  • Review of Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise (indeed)

    vivapinata_tip.jpg

We are big fans of the Viva Piñata franchise in our house. When we went to pick up the game on Thursday afternoon, the kids (4 & 2 years old) immediately saw it displayed at our local GameStop and yelled, “Eva Pin-yadas!! New Pinatas!!” I think there may have been some sort of dancing and jumping as well.

Three days worth of gameplay hasn’t curbed their enthusiasm. At breakfast, our 4-year old boy declared, “I was thinking about playing Piñatas today.” With the local co-operative mode allowing him to water plants, dig holes, and whack weeds in my garden, he really can play this time too.

The game starts out quite fast-paced with a three-challenge tutorial to cover the basics in about 15 minutes. This is definitely a sequel made for fans of the original. While the original was a nice leisurely stroll (with a few yawns) through a well-paved zoo, Trouble in Paradise is more like a backpacking trip in the wilderness of Montana where you pray you won’t get eaten by a wolverine or fall into a patch of poison oak.

Hit the jump for a full review of my gameplay experience with Viva Piñata: TIP.
