  • Xbox live and xbox.com down for maintenance

    In case you may have forgotten, Xbox is down for scheduled maintenance today. The outage affects both Xbox LIVE and Xbox.com. They started at midnight PST, and plan to take up to 24 hours to make the needed changes. I am told that this is not the dashboard update to the “New Xbox Experience” and that we will not see any cosmetic changes at all this time around. Hopefully it’s driving us closer to seeing the new dashboard and Netflix streaming capabilities!

    So, COD4 friends… what do you plan to play since we can’t get on for multiplayer today? I finished Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise over the weekend, so it’s a toss-up between Lost Odyssey (in which I am stuck at the first boss) or Bioshock (in which I am stuck at a Big Daddy). Whatever it is, I won’t let this little outage force me into doing housework during my beloved gaming hours!

  • Call of Duty 4: Double XP weekend

    This weekend is double XP in COD4 Multiplayer on Xbox Live, starting about 2 hours ago and running through Sunday. At the same time, the Variety Map Pack is discounted 50% to just 400 MS points.  For $5, you can play in two of my favorite maps, Chinatown and Broadcast, and get your head sniped off 5000 times in Creek (if your skill level is similar to mine). Killhouse is the 4th map, and it’s awesome for 1v1. See you in Headquarters, where I’ll be spending my weekend.

  • Reduced Priced DLC on the Marketplace

    From now until the end of October, Microsoft is having a sale on select DownLoadable Content on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson announced today that content for Oblivion, Mass Effect, Lost Odyssey, Forza 2, Guitar Hero 3 and Beautiful Katamari have been discounted 25-60%.

    While I already have the Shivering Isles, 1600 is well worth picking it up if you have not already.
