  • BREAKING: FFXIII coming to Xbox 360!

Gamers everywhere, rejoice! During their keynote speech at E3 this morning, Microsoft announced that Final Fantasy XIII, formerly a Sony exclusive, will be coming to the 360. The Final Fantasy series was the only thing tempting me back to a Sony console (I own a PS2 but haven’t played it since the 360 arrived), and I am happy to save the extra money to buy all of the Square Enix games coming out for 360.

Square Enix, known by fans everywhere as the best RPG developers out there, also announced 3 more titles coming to 360: Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean, and Last Remnant. All titles will be out by the end of the year, and FFXIII will launch the same date as the PS3 version, causing a huge war between fan boys and girls everywhere. I can not wait.

    Microsoft, FTW!

  • BREAKING: Netflix comes to the Xbox 360

This fall, with the release of the new dashboard for Xbox 360, you will finally be able to stream Netflix Watch Now content right to your TV.

That’s right. Announced today at the Microsoft Keynote at E3 2008, Netflix partners with Microsoft to bring thousands of movies right to your console. The feature has been rumored for a while now and is a welcome addition.

More information as it becomes available.

  • Now blogging at MKG: MrsKniceGuy

MrKniceGuy recently got the bright idea to bring another voice to MKG, so when he asked me (amidst the bellowing of the little goblins we call our children), I happily agreed.  So before I move on with other topics – mostly video games and other things about video games – I thought I would introduce myself.

Like mrkniceguy, I am a music enthusiast, an avid gamer, and more than comfortable around a computer (aka a nerd).  If I wasn’t every single one of those things, I doubt the man would have married me.  However, when it comes to gaming, despite spending hundreds of hours of my life playing various games, I have often struggled with the concept of being a woman who plays games. I’ve gone through phases of believing video games to be worthless wastes of time (I was probably losing a match of Unreal Tournament at the time), and for several months my consoles were just collecting dust while I was knitting hideous scarves and pretending I had better things to do.

In the last few months, however, I have really gotten into gaming as a hobby. I joined the GamerchiX on xbox.com and discovered there are many other grown women with kids out there playing games – and not just for their husbands or boyfriends, but for themselves. And despite the social stigma attached to women playing video games, they all make the time to enjoy the hobby (and let Reality TV go hang).  Knowing there are other women out there who spent the 200 hours it took to get 1250/1250 in Oblivion was a real encouragement – and I have since really embraced the fact that I just LOVE to play video games.

So… hopefully MKG will keep me around for a while, and hopefully I can bring all of you, our readers, some fresh content on games and other stuff. Ciao!
